As part of year 5's RE Unit, "Why do Hindus want to be good?" they were visited by Mr Mahandru who shared his own experiences of being a Hindu, explaining concepts from his faith and answering questions our Year 5 pupils had.
Mr Mahandru explained Hindus see the energy of God in everyone; all individuals have a 'light' in them which reflects God.
He explained the importance of meditation and having a clear, peaceful mind and peace within one self. Year 5 were then invited to take part in a meditation to "empty their minds".
Mr Mahandru talked about the importance of positive thinking, actions and words and how these are all connected.
A child asked "Why do Hindu's pray?" Mr Mahandru shared his own views on the significance of thankfulness prayers each day; being thankful for a wonderful world around him.
A child asked "What happens when you do bad things?" Mr Mahandru explained the concept of karma, and the notion of our own "energy and vibrations" being returned to us through the universe.
"I have learnt that Hinduism is very spiritual and doing good and bad things brings back Karma" Lukas
"The meditation made me calm and relaxed. Dharma is like a philosophy of how to live life correctly." Omar
