Our school's Writing Week and World Book Day celebrations.
Monday 27th February began our school's writing week.
Each class studied a single book over the whole week and used it to create lots of different styles of writing.
Look at what we all got up to over the week:

| Year 5 | Monday morning was a launch morning for the books. Year 6 when on an inside camping trip with their teacher in camping clothes, Year 5 visited Grandmas' House- Grandma was there for them, |
| and Year 6 | Year 4 got to build their own life-size teacher robot under instruction from their Robot Teacher and Year 3 had a robot workshop looking at different ways they could build their own robots. |

Year 1 and Year 2
THE DAY THE CRAYONS QUIT
Year 1 and Year 2 spent the week looking at this book and doing some writing linked to it.
On Monday the children had an experience day based on the book. The staff all dressed up as crayons (with some amazing t-shirts).
The children had a fun morning exploring different colours.
Over the week they wrote poems, descriptions and used some amazing vocabulary.
Year 2 also visited the library and learnt all about books.
On Friday, the children came into school dressed all in one colour. It was very lovely to see.

The Robot Series

All of the classes in KS2 took one of the books in the series and used it for a whole week of writing.
Monday
All classes learnt about their book through fun activities in the classroom.
Year 3 - dressed up in robot costumes, made robot parts and made robot masks.
Year 4 - made life-sized robots out of cardboard boxes.
Year 5 - made mini robots in their classroom which had been turned into a dining room.
Year 5 - explored the wildlife by camping in their classroom for the morning and they also made lego robots.

Tuesday - Thursday
During the week the children in KS2 read their class book and completed a piece of writing each day.
They wrote letters, descriptions, their own endings and many others.
Friday - Dave Cousins came to our school!
All of the children in KS2 got to meet the author of the books they had read all week. They learnt about his interests, his writing and his life.

Friday Afternoon - Dave Cousins Workshop
Some children from KS2 were invited to do a drawing and writing workshop with Dave in the afternoon of his visit.
They draw people using letters and wrote stories about them.
