Our school's Writing Week and World Book Day celebrations.

At the start of this half term we celebrated World book day.

Years 1 - Year 6 all looked at the same book for the whole week within their writing lessons.

The Proudest Blue by S K Ali and Ibtihal Muhammad.

Year 1- Children wrote about what they were proud of by the end of the week.

Year 2 - By the end of the week children retold the story.  

Years 3 -  Talked about the meaning behind the story and thought about the character's feelings throughout the book.  They also thought about how the hijab is special and what items are special to us? 

Year 4 - Created their own version of the book.

Years 5  - Wrote 'The Proudest Blue Paper Boat' which visits other people and shows what they might be proud of.

Year 6-  Wrote a letter back to author talking about how we are all different and things about each of us that make us different but that we can celebrate.
