Tuesday 6th February was Safer Internet Day
This special celebration takes place in February of each year to raise awareness of a safer and better internet for all, and especially for children and young people.
As part of this annual celebration, everyone is invited - including children and young people, parents and caregivers, teachers and educators, policymakers, industry and others - to join "Together for a better internet".
In school we have talked to the children about what the day means and what they can do to stay safe online.
Children in Years 4,5 and 6 have watched a special BBC online talk which aims to teach the children how to navigate the digital landscape safely.
Throughout the day, all children in Years 1-6 will have a special Safer Internet Day lesson where they have learnt ways to stay safe online. They have also answered questions in a special quiz.
The children in EYFS have also been learning about internet safety through a story today. They have read the book called Once Upon Online, where they have shared a story about a bad wolf who was pretending to be someone he isn't. This links to the story of Little Red Riding Hood and to the tale of the 3 Little Pigs – stopping people finding out where you live. It also talks about browsing online to do some shopping to help Cinderella get ready for her ball!
