Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome to Halesowen Church of England Primary School. I am delighted to have been appointed as the Headteacher here in December 2018.
My name is Lorna Knowles. I have worked at this wonderful school since 2003 and have held a number of roles. I feel that I know the school inside out and it is an important part of my life. I am passionate about ensuring we give our children the very best deal and am fortunate to be supported by a fantastic staff team, hardworking governing body and amazing parents.
Halesowen Church of England Primary School is a small school in Halesowen town centre with strong links to the local church and our community. It is a one form entry school, with a real family feel. We pride ourselves on knowing each child and family really well.
We have high expectations at Halesowen C of E and we expect everyone to do their best. We aim to develop in our children a real sense of belonging along with high self esteem and confidence, in order that each individual can achieve their potential. Our children are enthusiastic and curious with a real love of learning.
As a church school, we have a strong relationship with St. John's church community and Christian values underpin everything we do. We reflect our diverse community by celebrating together which deepens the children's understanding of one another, and how people with different beliefs and cultures to their own can live harmoniously together.
Our values underpin all that we do. They are Compassion, Honesty, Hope, Respect, Joy and perseverance. They closely align with our school motto "We care, we trust, we believe. We share, we enjoy, we achieve".
Things have been challenging at Halesowen C of E in the past 5 years. Firstly enduring the pandemic and then being graded and requiring improvement by Ofsted in June 2022. Whilst these times have been challenging we are proud of how together as a community we have ensured that the children and their best interests have still been at the forefront of all that we do. This is testament to our strong ethos.
We are now pleased to announce that Ofsted recognised this and in December 2024 we were inspected and we are now "Good" in all areas!
Mrs Lorna Knowles, Headteacher
We continue to find strength through are shared vision for the children and communities which is routed in this quote from the bible:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1.9)
