Head teacher's Update

Excitement around school this week as we gear up for our Talent Show. We had a run through yesterday and this afternoon is the performance (I'm writing this in the morning). We sometimes worry that there won't be enough time for the children to practice but, as usual, they have shown us that you don't need that much practice when you're really interested and excited about something. As I have said before, only certain children, voted by their Houses, get to perform in the show, but hopefully these children vary year to year. All the children that don't perform always sing a song with me at the start and this year it's 'You've Got a Friend in Me' which ties in with our 'friendship' theme.

Even though there is excitement in the school, I walked round the school this morning (we call it a 'learning walk') and the school was a real buzzing learning atmosphere; Year 6 had a hidden dragon in the middle of the room to write about, Year 3 and 4 were working hard solving Maths problems, Year 5 were Science experimenting with various powders that may or may not dissolve, Year 1 were working out their sounds and Year 2 were doing a talent show-based Maths lesson involving ordering numbers. Impressive stuff from both staff and children I'm sure you'll agree.

A line from our Talent Show song:

'We stick together, we can see it through, because you've got a friend in me'. - Randy Newman

SHARING

FOOTBALL MATCHES

We were really excited this week to go to our first football matches as a school. We are taking part in the Halesowen Schools football League. The first Monday of every month we will attend Leasowes and play 2 games. Sadly, we didn't win but the children tried so hard and were a credit to the school. there were lots of stars but I have picked a "Man of the Match" across both games. The winner was Luyanda. He never stopped running and gave 100% effort. It was really difficult to choose as they were all amazing and behaviour was excellent. Marcus was the captain and made me proud when he went and shook the organisers hand and thanked him. We hope to put some pictures on soon when we have checked consent.

WELL DONE:

MARCUS, LEWIS. JACOB, AMARA, DESTINY, AMR, SPARTAK, LUYANDA, DOMENICO AND HASHEM.
