Head teacher's Update

A fantastic week in school with lots going on as usual. I've managed to get in to classes quite a lot this week and it has been impressive to see the quality of learning that has taken place. It was Victorian Day yesterday in Year 1 and the children looked fantastic dressed in their period clothes - I'm not sure some of the children would have liked it in Victorian times! I've been told that they produced some wonderful work though. I also showed a new child and parent around the school yesterday and they commented on what a calm place it is - it's really pleasing when someone says something like this as we work hard to achieve high standards of both teaching and behaviour.

Some of our children visited the 'Me Festival' at Himley Hall yesterday. They took part in lots of exciting activities all centred around mental health - it's a hot topic these days and I often wonder how we all would have benefitted at school if there was a focus on having a healthy mind. The children also took part in a question and answer session with the Mayor of Dudley, and Mrs O'Donohue was super impressed with the quality of some of the questions that our children asked - well done to all involved.

Next week is our Christingle Service at St John's. Try and make it if you can - it's a lovely way to start Advent and the festive period.

We try as much as we can to be a forward thinking school. Here's a quote as to why:

'The world our kids are going to live in is changing four times faster than our schools'

- Dr. Willard Daggett
