Head teacher's Update

Well I think the first thing to say is, after last week, at least we're back in school! It's amazing the impact that significant snow can have on the running of a school. I'd like to reassure you though that we really did all we could to get the school back open. I couldn't even get my car on to the school drive on Monday, but we managed at least to clear enough for staff to get in on Tuesday so that they could clear the paths and car parks enough to be open on Wednesday. A big thank you to all staff who helped and to one of our ex-pupils Cameron Horne who, with his friend Luke Mcgarr, gave up their time with Cameron's mum to help clear the school site; it really was community at work. I also heard that residents on Hales Road helped to clear snow too, so a big thank you to you also!

Because of the snow there's been even more to fit in: Early Years and KS1 performed two back-to-back Nativity plays last Thursday and they were truly amazing; the acting, the singing, the costumes - all wonderful. The children and staff were a real credit to the school, so well done to all involved. We had parties on Friday and Monday, followed by the Carol Service yesterday afternoon which really was a magical moment; some beautifully read poems written by Year 5 and 6 that lead us through the Nativity story, and reminded us about the gift of Christmas.

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Halesowen CE Primary School.

ME FESTIVAL

FOOTBALL

On Monday 4th December we played out next set of football fixtures. The children who represented us were: Lewis, Marcus, Spartak, Hashem, Omar, Corey, Luyanda and Tak. This time we really saw a big improvement in how the children played. They are beginning to gel as a team and in their second match against Colley Lane we managed to keep a clean sheet and pull off a 0-0 draw. We were so close to scoring and feel in our next matches in February we may finally score a goal. Mr Payne and myself are so proud of the children as they never give up. Well done!

All of the children played really well but this time the players of the matches were Lewis and Omar. Lewis was amazing in goal- keeping the clean sheet. It was Omar's first game for the team and he really did put it 110% effort.
