Head teacher's Update

We began this week discussing our 'Commitment' theme in assembly and I talked about how the children can 'reap what they sow' in terms of committing to improving themselves either in their work or in their attitude. We had local headteachers visit the school today to conduct a school review for the local authority; both were really complimentary about what a calm and purposeful school we have. We walked round, looked at teaching and learning and spoke to the children and I have to say we were all massively impressed by the hard work and determination that the children showed in their approach to learning. The hard work the children put in is echoed by the staff in our school, as you only engage children through creative, well-planned teaching.

It was good to see so many parents turn out for our PGL meeting last night; the Year 5 children looked really excited about our annual residential trip - it's a fantastic opportunity and we always have lots of fun through really challenging activities.

REMINDER

DINNER MONEY PAYMENTS

WE ARE STILL VERY CONCERNED THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT PAYING FOR DINNERS IN ADVANCE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PAY FOR DINNERS ON THE MORNING THE CHILD WANTS THEM OR AT THR START OF THE WEEK FOR THE WHOLE WEEK.

School meals are provided by Dudley Catering. The payment you make for meals is made directly to them. School facilitate this and support the catering staff. It is becoming an ever increasing problem that people are not paying for dinners on the day they require them. If dinner money is not sent Dudley catering may only provide a sandwich and may not provide anything at all. We have been asked by the kitchen staff to request that all meals are paid for on the morning or in advance. Please do not be offended if we telephone you to ask you to bring money in before lunchtime. It is a safeguarding issue if you are not providing a lunch for your child and will be logged on a school safeguarding system

DINNER MONEY CHANGE

Please remember if you are owed change from dinner money to collect it from the office.

PARKING

Please do not park on either of the car parks. The local area now has free parking for 1 hour and the Andrew Road and High Street car parks are all very close to school should you not find a safe place to park on the street.

NURSERY AND TIME FOR TWO'S

Do you have a child who is 2,3 or 4 years old?

In our teacher' led Nursery we still have spaces available for this year and are taking applications for next year. Please come in and speak to us. Recently some people have expressed concerns thinking their child is not ready start nursery but we can always tailor the provision we offer to fit your child's needs. Please come and speak to us with any questions or queries.

We can also recommend the private provider "Little Acorns" who are running a time for two's provision for us as well as our breakfast and after school club. They also have spaces. Please speak to our school office and we can support you with finding out if you are eligible and can help you apply.

PC Davies visits School Council

This week the School councillors met with PC Davies and had lunch together. PC Davies came in to talk to the children about how he works hard with the police force to make Halesowen a safer and better place. The school councillors were hoping to think about this and apply it to school to make school a happy place to be.
