Black History Month- House Event

Each year Black History month is celebrated in October, with this years theme being "Reclaiming Narratives". Through our celebrations this month we wanted to focus on retelling the stories of amazing and significant black figures in history. 

Each year group was given a fascinating and important historical figure, and in their assembly times created a piece of art to celebrate that individuals story. 

Year 1 and 2- Mae Jemison

"She was an astronaut. She was the first black woman in space" Emmanuella

Our runners up in Year 1 and 2 were Linah and Victoria

Our winners in Year 1 and 2 were Ella Rose and Sophia

Year 3 and 4- Mary Seacole

"She was nurse who helped out the soldiers in the war". Kenzie

Our runners up in Year 3 and 4 were Daniel and Lacey. 

Our winners in Year 3 and 4 were Jevaiah and Jenny. 

Year 5 and 6- Rosa Parks

"she stood up for the rights of black people. She refused to give her seat up to a white person on the bus because she was tired." Kian

Our runners up in Year 5 and 6 were Rejoyce. 

Our winners in Year 5 and 6 were Solomon, Georgia and Ashley. 

Each winner and runner up earned big house points for their houses. At the end of the house event these were the big house points for each house.
