Head teacher's Update

As this short but busy half term draws to a close, we can reflect on all the wonderful things that have happened in school. I think back to our Mother's Day Service at St John's; it's a relatively new celebration that we have introduced into our school calendar, but it seems to be really popular, and it just gives our children the opportunity to say 'thank you'. Yesterday, we told the Easter story through our Easter Pilgrimage. We were almost halted by the weather, but I'm glad to say, with a few minor adjustments in location, we still managed to tell a very special story - particularly as we are a church school. I thank all the parents, carers and friends that joined us even in the bad weather. Following on from that, our Easter celebrations continued this morning with our fantastic Easter Bonnet Parade; I think we probably had the most bonnets we've ever had, and we even had some of the children from 'Time For Twos' come and join us; once again I thank you for your support.

Over the last few weeks some of our children have been quite active too. In Year 3 we are running a programme of activities at Woodfield House in Wolverley to further enhance the Year 3 curriculum in school. The children have been split into small groups and over the course of this half term and next term will enjoy activities such as dry-slope skiing, climbing, archery and bush-craft. On the theme of outdoor activity, our Year 4 children have also been invited to take part in a brand new residential opportunity which we are running for the first time this coming June! I do hope as many children in Year 4 as possible take part as it's a real boost for confidence and an opportunity to learn new skills and try new things.

I hope you all have a happy and restful Easter break.

Football Team

This week the football team went to play 2 more matches. Unfortunately, we didn't win. What was encouraging was the children's behaviour. We are always very proud when the children notice poor behaviour elsewhere and comment about how it can better- this truly shows our ethos is embedded, The players of the matches were: Amara and Lewis- this was for their amazing attitude and never giving up!
